EXPERIENCE THEIR STORY

core discovery

Avant8 helped Canis develop their brand from scratch using the Core Discovery system. Together we established that Canis Collection provides a quality CBD product experience to look-n-feel-matter customers in an experience-focused environment with a Peloton-esque voice, helping them feel confident and make a difference. From there we fleshed out some personas and created stylescapes to see which visual direction the brand should take.

they chose wisely

Canis went with the spicier direction. The visuals are minimal but bold and color is monochromatic and often greyscale. This was a more rebelious, rock star feel. If this brand direction was personified, it’d be Jared Leto. With the brand look and feel established, we started designing the product packaging, website, and social presence.

Canis Collection is a series of CBD infused beauty products. The labels for the bottles are minimal but feel elevated with subtle attention to detail with a gloss background texture—the cannabinoid molecule.

There are two types of photography for Canis: product lifestyle and conceptual. The product lifestyle photography should feel like an at home spa, with the products part of your daily beauty routine. Conceptual photography should use symbolism, movement, and moods that when juxtaposed to the text create a more powerful message.

A high end luxury brand deserves a custom designed website. With Canis we focused on dramatic typography integrated with images and plenty of sweet negative space to help give the site a relaxing Zen feel. A challenge that we overcame was having a product-forward ecommerce functioning website without it feeling like you’re being sold something. The user should feel like they are becoming a part of a kickass lifestyle, not just buying lotion.
